My Favorite Green Smoothie

Good morning!

Sipping my green breakfast smoothie right now and wanted to share my recipe with you. You need a good blender to start.

Ingredients

Note: All measurements are approximate, as I don’t measure when I cook. You may want more or less depending on the size of your blender or appetite.

This version makes 1 very tall glass of smoothie heaven.

If you don’t have the fresh fruits, frozen organic is ok (except for the banana – I’ve never seen frozen bananas sold, have you?).

Aim for all-organic ingredients.

If your fruits are ripe, you don’t need any sweetener! Even if the first sip doesn’t taste sweet enough, stick with it. There is plenty of natural sugar in there, and by the time you schlurp it all up, you’ll be satiated. If you must, add about 1 tsp of raw honey or agave nectar. You could also try molasses or brown rice syrup but I can’t guarantee how that will taste, as these have a more distinctive taste to them. I’m not a fan of stevia.

Directions

Blend and ENJOY! Add more water or your choice of milk/milk substitute (e.g. rice milk, soy milk, almond milk) if it’s too lumpy.

p.s. Not everyone benefits from a cool breakfast in the mornings. Especially in some traditional approaches, a warm breakfast is always recommended. I don’t recommend this blend in the winters / in cool weather. Today, my body felt like it could thrive on this, and it is, although I will follow it up with some of my favorite herbal tea to balance out the cool-warm factor.
