2011 Resolutions, Deliciously Resolved!

by Simla on January 18, 2011

January is typically a month when people get motivated and serious about their health. Whether your plans include joining a gym or trying a new diet to shed extra holiday pounds, the New Year starts with the best of intentions.

But very few people stay motivated. Often after only a few weeks of trying an extreme diet or exercise program, we slip back into old habits and feel guilty for not being able to maintain our goals. Is this you?

It’s not your fault. Most diets are not sustainable for your lifestyle or your body. In fact, many detox and cleansing programs on the market today are so extreme, I would never use them, nor would I recommend them to my clients. Many of these can leave you worse off than when you started, leading to further energy loss, added weight gain, or mood swings.

What if there was a way to keep your commitment to yourself beyond January and feel good?

That’s where the Delicious Cleanse comes in. (Shameless but timely plug alert.)

Cleansing does not have to deprive you of good food or leave you feeling hungry—in fact, I strongly believe that it shouldn’t or else it can be harmful in the long run! I’m a total foodie, so I understand the need to enjoy delicious food and feel satisfied on a daily basis. I also understand the healing power of whole foods, as I used them to heal my own chronic health conditions, including fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, allergies, asthma, headaches, and chronic bronchitis. And I never even had a weight issue! Our modern S.A.D. C.R.A.P.™ diet contributes to all the major breakdowns in the body today.

Michael Pollan, author of Food Rules and In Defense of Food, says it so well: “Populations that eat a so-called Western diet–generally delivered as a diet consisting of lots of processed foods and meat, lots of added fat and sugar, lots of refined grains–invariably suffer from high rates of the so-called Western diseases: obesity, type 2 [and type 3] diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.”

From what I’ve seen in my practice as a health coach and nutritionist, I add to this list other common health issues such as headaches, heightened stress, stubborn weight gain, low energy, inability to concentrate, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, allergies, autoimmune disorders, nerve pain, mood swings, uncontrollable cravings and digestive issues as well.

Small changes to your diet can have a huge impact on all of these health issues. While food allergies can be identified through lab tests, no reliable tests exist for finding food intolerances and sensitivities (which are “sneakier” than actual food allergies) other than a trial-and-error protocol that can be difficult and frustrating to manage on your own.

I created the Delicious Cleanse to support you in finding a way of eating and living that you can sustain for the rest of your life.

In this 28-day small group program you will ease into a whole-foods based eating plan that eliminates the most common allergens from your diet and introduces you to a new range of amazing foods. You will maintain this clean eating plan as you test for your personal food intolerances, some of which could be the actual root of your health issues. Plus, I will share practical tips, tools and information – such as how to conquer cravings without using willpower – along the way to help you understand your health and body better, and make lasting changes.

One of the biggest secrets you will discover during the cleanse is that it’s not about the calories. Many of the “healthy” foods you may be eating today can trigger inflammatory reactions and make weight “stick” to your body. You will be surprised what you discover when you experiment and explore with your food routine. Ultimately, the Delicious Cleanse teaches you to eat intutively and create new food habits.

This means you gain a sense of freedom around food, never having to “diet” or deprive yourself again.

As the dust settles from your New Year resolutions, I encourage you to look again at your health goals for 2011. What’s at the top of your list?

Is it You? Are you ready to feel the best you have ever felt? If so, then what is it that keeps you from resolving those same New Year resolutions year after year?

Below are some of the results you can expect from the Delicious Cleanse, as shared by past participants. If some of these goals are on your list for 2011, I invite you to join me starting February 2, 2011.
